London-based property maintenance firm, Aspect.co.uk, is offering one winner £2,500 in a competition to become one of their ‘next generation’ plumbers. The money will help the winner to gain their plumbing diploma.
Aspect.co.uk owner, Will Davies, ran the pioneering ‘Unemployment Boot camp’ concept in 2012 to help get long-term unemployed people into work. His scheme helped them with their ‘Three R’s’ namely reading, writing and arithmetic.
Furthermore, the boot camp included a physical endurance test, which they had to pass to get an apprenticeship in the business.
Based on the boot camp’s success, and with a continuing skills shortage in the industry, Will devised the competition to help one potential plumber overcome the funding gap, which often prevents people from getting suitable qualifications.
