ecocooling node pole - heating and cooling

Direct-air evaporative cooling specialists, EcoCooling, joined the Node Pole Alliance, a group pf 80 data centre knowledge partners, the company recently announced.

The Node Pole Alliance brings together technology and construction businesses to build data centres based in the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden. Companies in the Alliance include Hydro66, Vattenfall, Facebook, KnC Miner and ABB.

The location is ideal for data centres because of the reliable energy supply, ample low cost hydroelectric energy and low air temperatures for cooling.

Refrigeration in that part of the world is unnecessary in data centres. Often the air temperature is too cold even for IT equipment. If the temperature drops below 14 degrees Celsius, some systems close down.

EcoCooling has patented control systems and atemperation processes to keep cooling air within strict bands for data centres, which is usually 18 to 21 degrees Celsius.

Alan Beresford, MD at EcoCooling stated:

“We are very proud to have been able to join the Node Pole Alliance. The direct-air evaporative cooling systems we have developed are ideal for the climate in the Node Pole region and make the most of the resources available.”
