Eight thousand ‘fuel poor’ homes will benefit from part of £25 million Central Heating Fund announced by Ed Davey, Energy and Climate Change Secretary.
The fund will help people living off the gas grid with the installation of a central heating system.
Another announcement has emerged about ‘£1 million warmth-on-prescription fund’ to help nine local authorities support households deemed to be in fuel poverty where the occupants’ cold house affects their health.
The announcements are on top of the existing ECO and Green Deal policies to help make homes more energy efficient across the UK.
