Neil Harrison, co-founder of re:heat, the biomass heating business, is now a board member of the industry’s largest trade association, the Wood Heat Association.

Harrison started the Northumberland business in 2011 with Ben Tansey. The company influences Government reports on biomass heating for schools, hospitals and businesses in the UKs North East and elsewhere in the country.

Neil Harrison was instrumental in setting up the Wood Heat Association (WHA). He became a director of its board after a recent vote by members. The WHA has over 200 hundred members in the UK.

Harrison said:

"It is fantastic to have this opportunity to continue to raise the professional standards and build the reputation of biomass heating as something that is a sound choice for businesses and households up and down the country.”

He continued:

“Having already assisted in the formation of the WHA, particularly the November 2013 establishment survey and the 2014 conference, I am very much looking forward to taking up my seat on the board and working to improve standards in our industry."

Neil Harrison had been in the biomass industry for ten years before starting re:heat. Before that, he was a biomass consultant with the Scottish Agricultural College. There he worked on a number of biomass projects including designing and buying boiler systems for estates and farms in Scotland. In addition, he advised the Scottish Government, Forestry Commission Scotland and the Cairngorms National Park.
