Daikin's Altherma hybrid heat pump is going to be more popular for households that need a lot of hot water.

Installers can install the award-winning hybrid at the same time as a hot water cylinder with the addition of a new connection kit.

The new connection kit consists of a 3-port valve and cylinder sensors making the Altherma hybrid heat pump ideal for homes with high hot water needs.

The Altherma hybrid heat pump combines and air source heat pump with a Combi boiler. This is was previously suitable mainly for properties with one bathroom.

With the new 'connection kit' the heat pump system is perfect for bigger houses which have greater hot water needs. The boiler provides the hot water which is then stored or reheated in a connected cylinder.

Daikin's heating and renewables product manager, Nancy Jonsson, said,

“The system provides an ideal solution for many of the UK’s on gas or LPG properties with and is up to 35% more efficient than a boiler alone. The new hot water cylinder connection kit extends the potential of this award-winning hybrid system and provides a viable renewable heating option for many more properties with LPG or on the UK’s gas network.”
